The Samsung Lions, ranked 3rd in professional baseball, achieved a thrilling comeback victory over SSG Landers based on the concentration of their batting lineup.

Samsung defeated SSG 12-4 in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League home game held at Incheon SSG Landers Field on the 16th with three cannons, including Lee Seong-gyu’s comeback final home run in the 8th inning.

The game continued in a tight pitching battle until the 7th inning. Samsung effectively targeted SSG starter Kim Gwang-hyun and got on base every inning until the third inning, but was unable to score any points.

On the contrary, the defense gave up the first run in the bottom of the third inning when the score was 0-0.

Samsung starting pitcher Connor Siebold, who struck out four out of six batters until the second inning, hit a left-field solo home run from leadoff hitter Lee Ji-young in the third inning.

The shaken corner later gave up a walk to Choi Jun-woo and then allowed Choi Ji-hoon to hit a timely triple to right field, putting the score at 0-2.

Samsung immediately followed suit. In the top of the 4th inning, leadoff hitter Kim Young-woong walked and stole base, and Lee Jae-hyeon and Ryu Ji-hyuk exploded with consecutive hits to chase the score at 1-2.

It was unfortunate that with no outs on first and second base, Oh Jae-il hit a double play against Kim Gwang-hyun that led to shortstop, second baseman, and first baseman.

Samsung, which missed the opportunity to score additional points, was caught off guard by SSG’s defensive strategy in the bottom of the fourth inning.

With 2 outs and runners on 1st and 3rd base, SSG 1st base runner Lee Ji-young was caught in a narrow strike, and in the meantime, 3rd base runner Han Yu-seom rushed home.

Samsung did not give up victory. Kim Young-woong hit a left-field solo home run in the top of the 6th inning, and turned the game around in the top of the 8th inning when they were down 2-3.

Leadoff hitter David MacKinnon kept the spark alive by hitting a left-field hit to SSG’s third pitcher Byeong-Hyun Cho.

Afterwards, Kim Young-woong and Lee Jae-hyeon retired with consecutive strikeouts, but Ryu Ji-hyuk tied the score at 3-3 with a timely hit to left-center, and the follow-up hitter, Lee Seong-gyu, hit a two-run home run and Kim Heon-gon hit a left-center solo home run to immediately make it 6-3.

Samsung, which succeeded in a comeback, brought in Kim Jae-yoon and Oh Seung-hwan to keep the defense scoreless in the bottom of the 8th inning, then scored 6 points on offense in the top of the 9th inning to split the game.

Samsung’s starting corner was responsible for 7 innings, a personal high this season, and played an active role with 4 hits, 2 walks, 8 strikeouts, and 3 runs (2 earned runs), while Ryu Ji-hyuk led the batting line with 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 2 walks, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs.

SSG starting pitcher Gwang-Hyun Kim met the winning pitcher requirements with 6 hits, 4 walks, 3 strikeouts, and 2 runs in 5⅔ innings, but was unable to accumulate wins as the game turned around. 토토사이트
