Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow is out of power with an injury.
MLB.com reported on the 10th (Korea time) that “Glasnow was placed on the 15-day injured list (IL) due to back pain.” The injury prevented Glasnow from playing in this year’s All-Star Game.
Manager Dave Roberts doesn’t seem too worried about Glasnow’s return, saying, “It shouldn’t be too long,” but the Dodgers’ starting rotation is in crisis.
The Dodgers are already struggling to maintain their starting rotation with injuries to Walker Buehler and Yamamoto Yoshinobu. Clayton Kershaw is still recovering. MVP batter Mookie Betts was also injured among the outfielders.
Glasnow is supposed to be the anchor of the Dodgers’ starting rotation, but he has been suffering from a series of injuries. Glasnow does not play a full season every year. Last year, the most innings in a season as a starting pitcher was 120 innings.
In the home game against the Milwaukee Brewers on the 6th, he struggled with three hits (one homer) in six innings, two walks, seven strikeouts, and five runs.
He became the first pitcher to win 10 games since his Major League debut last year, and entered the 2024 season as the starter for the opening game of the Seoul Series against the San Diego Padres, but the injury variable arose again just before the end of the first half.
Glasnow is 8-5 with a 3.47 ERA in 18 games this season. Excluding injuries, it could be the most wins since debut.
Glasnow will miss his first All-Star Game appearance due to an injury. The Cincinnati Reds’ Hunter Green will take his place in the All-Star Game.
