’78 Days to Korea’ Managing Director Han Seung-hee “(Moon) Sung-gon is like an older brother”

“Before I enlisted, I learned a lot from watching (Yang) Heejong, (Oh) Segeun, and (Moon) Sunggon. I think it’s right for me to be like them.”

The Armed Forces Sports Unit (hereinafter referred to as the Sangsang) will participate in the ‘2024 KBL Cup Competition’ (hereinafter referred to as the Cup Competition) in Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do from October 5. After the Cup, they will compete in the 105th National Sports Games.

After conducting a training camp in Samcheonpo ahead of the tournament, the team is currently strengthening its organization with practice games in the Seoul metropolitan area. On the 27th, the team played a practice match against Seoul Samsung and Dongguk University at the Samsung Training Center (STC) in Yongin. Han Seung-hee is also working hard to keep up with her teammates. Han Seung-hee was drafted by Anyang Jungkwanjang (then KGC) with the fifth overall pick in the 2020-2021 KBL Domestic Rookie Draft 메이저사이트 and played three seasons before enlisting in the military on May 15 last year. His discharge date is Nov. 14.

“At this time last year, it seemed like time was going to fly by, but it seems to have gone faster than I thought. I started counting (my discharge date) when it fell below 100 days,” Han laughed.

Since the D-League ended in March, Han has been training in-house for some time. “We did basic weight training from the beginning of April to June or July. After the recruits came in, we increased ball exercises. I’m shooting 200 to 300 shots every day. I have a fine, and I haven’t paid it yet. I work hard because I don’t want to lose, and I work hard (to get better),” he reflected.

“When you’re in the army, you don’t get to play much practice. When you come out like this, you have to get something out of it. The newcomers have just come in, so there are some things that don’t work out, but we’re getting there together.”

For the seniors, including Han Seung-hee, the cup is a final test before returning to the team. “I think confidence is more than half of the game, and that confidence comes from the amount of practice. I’m usually nervous and self-conscious. I want to get rid of that and overcome myself. If I run hard, I think I will get good results. Last year, I was also a private, and I ran around without thinking, so I feel like it worked out better. I’ll play hard again this time,” he said, ready to compete in the Cup.

When he returns to the team, he will have to compete with Jung Hyo-geun, Lee Jong-hyun, and Kim Kyung-won. “I don’t have a skill that makes me great one-on-one,” he said. That’s why I have to make sure my defense and rebounding are solid first. I learned a lot from watching (Yang) Hee-jong, (Oh) Se-geun, and (Moon) Sung-geon before I joined the Army. I think it’s right for me to play like them,” he said, pointing out his role.

Finally, Han Seung-hee said, “I don’t have a position on the team, but I’m half worried about what to do and half excited to play. As a player, of course, I have a desire to play. However, I have to adapt to the basketball that the coach is looking for. I’ll use the rest of the time to improve my body and continue training,” he concluded.
