American Katie Ledecky, 27, has become the most decorated female swimmer in the history of Olympic swimming.
The U.S., which swam the No. 3 stroke, touched the touchpad in 7:40.86 to finish second in the women’s 800-meter freestyle relay final at the La Defense swimming pool in Paris, France, on Tuesday (Sept. 2).
They were unable to beat Australia (7:38.08), which set an Olympic record, but took home the silver medal.
Rudecki has now won 13 Olympic medals – eight gold, four silver and one bronze – to become the most decorated female athlete in Olympic swimming.
Rudecky, who won gold in the women’s 800-meter freestyle at London 2012 at the age of 15, is now competing in her fourth Olympics.
The second most decorated female swimmer is Australia’s Emma McKeown.
McKeown, who won the women’s 400-meter freestyle relay at the Games, has won eight gold, three silver and one bronze medals in her career.
In swimming as a whole, Michael “The Emperor” Phelps (39) has the best record.
With 28 medals – 23 gold, three silver and two bronze – in five Olympics, Phelps is the most decorated swimmer of all time at the Summer and Winter Games. 안전놀이터
