South Korea men’s national soccer team forward Hwang Hee-chan, 28, has been linked with a move away from English Premier League (EPL) club Wolverhampton.
“Hwang Hee-chan can’t play with this kind of performance,” British media outlet Molineux News said on Nov. 19 (local time), calling him ”one of Wolverhampton’s worst players so far this season.”
The media pointed to Hwang’s performance in the third round of the 2024-2025 English League Cup (Carabao Cup) match between Wolverhampton and Brighton (2-3 Wolverhampton) on the same day.
“Hwang was a favorite of Gary O’Neill’s last season, but he’s had a tough start to the new campaign. His performance against Brighton was awful,” and ‘He doesn’t look like the same player he was last season.’ The criticism was strong.
Hwang Hee-chan scored 12 goals in the league alone in the 2023-2024 season, establishing himself as a key player for the team.
This season, however, he hasn’t scored a single goal in six games across league and cup competitions.
This has led to transfer speculation. The Athletic reported that Hwang and midfielder Pablo Sarabia “could be in talks (about their futures) in the January transfer window if their positions in the first team become unstable.”
In other words, 파워볼실시간 if Hwang’s performances don’t improve, he could be forced to leave Wolverhampton in the upcoming winter transfer window.
Hwang attracted interest from French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille during the summer transfer window.
Head coach Roberto De Zervi was reportedly keen on the player.
Hwang’s final choice was Wolverhampton, but it seems to have been a disappointing choice considering the current situation.
Part of the problem is that Hwang’s personal form hasn’t been as good as it was last season, but part of the problem is that Hwang, who is the most threatening player on the left flank or up front, has been relegated to a more right-sided role.
There are still more than three months until the winter transfer window opens.
If Hwang can regain his form from before that period, it could be a win-win situation for both Wolverhampton and Hwang.
