‘Park Ji-soo 30 points’ KB Stars on 11-game winning streak… Magic number ‘4’

KB Stars has reduced its magic number to four to clinch first place in the regular season.

KB won 72-60 at home against Incheon Shinhan Bank in the Woori WON 2023-2024 Women’s Professional Basketball League on Sunday at Cheongju Gymnasium in Chungcheongbuk-do, South Chungcheong Province.

KB, which has won 11 straight games, improved to 22-2 and extended its lead over second-place 스포츠토토 Asan Woori Bank (18-5) to 3.5 games.

With the win, KB needs four wins in its remaining six games to clinch first place in the regular season even if Woori Bank wins all seven of its remaining games.

If Woori Bank loses to Bucheon Hana OneQ on the 8th and KB wins against Woori Bank on the 11th during the Lunar New Year holiday, KB will immediately clinch the top spot in the regular season.

KB jumped out to a 22-10 lead in the first quarter, led by Park Ji-soo’s 30 points and 12 rebounds.

Kang Yiul scored eight points in the first half and was held scoreless in the second, but Heo Ye-eun paced the offense with 12 points on four three-pointers.

With the win, KB extended its winning streak to 12 home games in a row. This ties KB’s own franchise record for the longest home winning streak. KB also won 12 straight home games in October 2019.

The longest home winning streak in the entire Women’s Professional Basketball League is 16 games, set by Shinhan Bank in 2012 and Woori Bank in 2015.

Fifth-ranked Shinhan Bank, which is looking to leap to the fourth spot in the playoffs, dropped to 17 points on 7 games, 1.5 games behind fourth-ranked Hana OneQ (8-15).

Kim Sonia was the top scorer for Shinhan Bank with 15 points. Shinhan Bank will continue its pursuit of fourth place when it faces Hana OneQ on Dec. 12.
