Tottenham Hotspur manager Anzhi Postecoglou has refused to change and is determined to continue playing “romantic soccer”.
“Postecoglou insists he will not change his identity and approach despite the extra pressure,” SpursWeb, a leading source of Tottenham news, reported on Tuesday.
Tottenham will host Burnley in the 37th round of the 2023-24 English Premier League season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England, on Nov. 11 at 11 p.m. The match will be played at home.
Fifth-ranked Spurs, who are currently on a four-game unbeaten streak, welcome 19th-ranked Burnley, who are in the relegation zone. The two teams met in the fourth round of the league last September, a match that ended in a 5-2 victory for Spurs thanks to a Son Heung-min hat trick.
With Tottenham facing a golden opportunity to end their losing streak, Postecoglou’s pre-match press conference on Tuesday was notable for his refusal to change his soccer philosophy.
When asked what he has learned from this season, Postecoglou said, “Nothing too dramatic. I’m just me,” he replied.
“I have resisted the idea of trying to change myself,” he added, “which is not easy in the Premier League, where there is a lot of attention and scrutiny.”
Postecoglou, who took over at Spurs from Scottish giants Celtic last summer, has taken the Premier League by storm in the early part of the season. His aggressive style of football, where he presses high up the line and puts opponents under intense pressure, has captivated fans.
As Tottenham’s losing streak grew longer, many were calling 스포츠토토 for a quick change in style, but Postecoglou was determined to stick with his philosophy until the end.
With Postecoglou refusing to make changes, Tottenham captain Son Heung-min has decided to back his manager. After the 2-4 loss to Liverpool in the 36th round of the league on June 6, Son said, “Now is the time for everyone to step up. “It’s easy when everything is going well, but it’s a tough moment,” he said, adding, “We need to be stronger and stick together.
“Is Tottenham on the right path? Absolutely, and sometimes, like today, results haven’t come our way and we’ve been very disappointed. Today was also very, very disappointing, but I think we are on the right track,” he added.
He added his support for Postecoglou. “I don’t want him to forget that it’s his first season here, his first season in the Premier League,” he said, emphasizing that the first year should be taken into account.
