LG’s Ji-Hwan Oh hits a grand slam against SSG’s Kwang-Hyun Kim
SSG Landers’ veteran pitcher Kim Gwang-hyun (35) collapsed after being hit with back-to-back home runs following a grand slam.
Kim Gwang-hyun was replaced after allowing 8 runs on 9 hits, 1 walk, and 2 home runs in 3 innings in the 2024 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League game against LG Twins held at Jamsil Stadium on the 17th.
It has been a full nine years since Kwang-Hyun Kim gave up eight runs in a single game, when he gave up eight runs in 1⅔ innings against the KT Wiz on August 29, 2015.
LG pushed Kwang-Hyun Kim from the beginning.
In the bottom of the first inning, with one out and runners on first and second base, LG scored the first run with Moon Bo-kyung’s left-field double, and added two more runs with Park Dong-won’s infield hit and a subsequent ground ball to take a 3-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, after Kim Hyun-soo and Austin Dean hit, Moon Bo-kyung walked to create a bases-loaded opportunity with no outs.
The next batter, Park Dong-won, struck out, but Oh Ji-hwan’s bat exploded.
Oh Ji-hwan hit a changeup outside from Kwang-hyun Kim on the third pitch with a 2-0 count and it flew over the right-center field fence.
LG ran away with a 7-0 lead thanks to Oh Ji-hwan’s one-hit home run.
LG, with its momentum, ran away with an 8-0 lead when the next batter, Beom-seok Kim, hit back-to-back home runs against Kwang-hyun Kim.
In the end, Kim Gwang-hyun was replaced by Kim Taek-hyung after the third inning.
This is the fourth time that Kwang-Hyun Kim has hit a grand slam in the KBO League.
Coincidentally, the previous grand slam was also hit by Oh Ji-hwan at Jamsil on September 6, 2022. 파워볼사이트
