Hyundai E&C, Jung Kwan-jang take down the top spot

Professional volleyball team Woori Card leaps to the top of the men’s standings with a win over KEPCO.

Woori Card won its Dodram 2023-2024 V-League men’s home match against KEPCO 3-1 (25-21 25-23 19-25 25-20) at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on Monday.

With the victory, Woori Card, which improved to 6-1 (17 points), moved into the lead over Samsung Fire (5-1, 14 points), which has played one game less.

With their fourth straight loss, KEPCO remained in last place with a 1-6 record (3 points).

Urikhad Matei led the way with 21 points. Han Sung-jung and Kim Ji-han added 13 points each, while Issei chipped in with eight points.

For KEPCO, Tice had 28 points, Seo Jae-duk had 14 points and Shin Young-seok had 10 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the loss.

Woori Card and KEPCO were tied at 16-16 midway through the first set, but Woori Card began to pull away late in the set. An open attack by Han Sung-jeong and consecutive blocks by Park Joon-hyuk and Matei quickly made it 19-16. A service ace by Matei further increased the gap and Woori Card took the first set 25-21.

Woori Card’s momentum continued in the second set. They took the lead with back-to-back blocks by Matei and Park Jun-hyuk, and then utilized various attack routes to maintain the lead. KEPCO didn’t back down easily this time either. Lim Sung-jin’s serve changed the atmosphere on the court and tied the score at 16-16. However, Woori Card responded with a service ace by Matei and widened the gap again with an opponent error. Woori Card won the second set 25-23.

Backed into a corner, KEPCO fought back in the third set. After taking the lead early in the set with a kill from Tice, Seo Jae-duk and Shin Young-seok joined in on the action and changed the tone of the court. Ha Seung-woo added a block to make it 13-7. Woori Card made a late comeback, but KEPCO took the third set 25-19.

However, that was as close as KEPCO would get. In the fourth set, Woori Card took an early lead thanks to Matei’s performance. Han Sung-jeong’s service ace gave Woori a 13-7 lead. KEPCO tried to make a comeback at the end of the set, but back-to-back errors cost them the points. In the end, Woori Card won the fourth set 25-20 to close out the match.

Meanwhile, in the women’s match, Hyundai E&C defeated Jung Kwan-jang in straight sets 3-1 (28-26 24-26 25-21 25-16).

Hyundai E&C and Jeong Kwan 먹튀검증 Jang are tied at 4-3, but with 13 points, Hyundai E&C is in third place, while Jeong Kwan Jang, with 11 points, drops to fourth.

Hyundai E&C’s Moma led the way with 29 points, while Yang Hyo-jin and Jeong Ji-yoon each scored 14 points.

For Jung Kwanjang, Jia scored 24 points and Mega 20 points, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the team from losing.
