Soto, imminent move to MLB Yankees in large trade involving 7 players

slugger Juan Soto about to go to MLB Yankees

MLB outfielder Juan Soto (25) is expected to leave the San Diego Padres and head to the New York Yankees.

The American media reported on the 7th (Korean time) that the Yankees and San Diego are planning to carry out a large trade in which seven players will swap teams.

Soto, who worked with Kim Ha-sung in San Diego, and outfielder Trent Grisham are moving to the Yankees, and five Yankees players, including right-handed pitcher Michael King, catcher Kyle Higashioka, and three pitchers, are moving to San Diego.

Soto is a major league hitter with 160 home runs, 483 RBI, and an on-base percentage of 0.421 in his six-year career in the big league, including 35 home runs and 109 RBIs this season.

The Yankees, who acquired left-handed mid-range long-distance gunner Alex Verdugo in a trade with the Boston Red Sox the day before, can increase the weight of their batting lineup if they get Soto in their arms.

The Yankees struggled this year, ranking 25th in team scoring (673 points) among all 30 teams in the big league.

San Diego has already signed long-term contracts with shortstop Sander Bohartz (11 years, $280 million), third baseman Manny Machado (11 years, $350 million), and outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. (14 years, $340 million). Since they could not afford to sign a long-term contract with Soto, who will become a free agent after next season, they turned to a trade.

Two years ago, Soto rejected the Washington Nationals’ offer of a 15-year, $440 million long-term contract and chose to trade, settling in San Diego. 슬롯
