Pittsburgh Pirates’ Bae Ji-hwan (25) was silent with a no-hitter.

Bae Ji-hwan went 0-for-4 with a walk and a hit in his first at-bat as a center fielder and No. 9 hitter in the Pirates’ 2024 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series home opener against the San Francisco Giants at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Thursday (June 24).

Bae, who went 1-for-3 since being promoted to the big leagues on Feb. 22, went hitless after missing the previous day, dropping his season batting average to .143.

Trailing 6-7, Bae led off the ninth inning with a walk and reached on an error. However, he was thrown out trying to steal second base to tie the game.
