The Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) have blown the whistle on their fourth straight win.
Samsung won 8-3 at home against SSG Landers on Thursday at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, South Korea. The Lions have won four straight games since beating LG Electronics in Jamsil on April 1. Starter Connor Seabold earned his ninth win of the season. SSG, on the other hand, has lost four in a row since April 1 against the Moonlight Lotte.
Samsung’s starting lineup is center fielder Kim Ji-chan, left fielder Kim Heon-gon, designated hitter Koo Ja-uk, third baseman Kim Young-woong, first baseman Lee Sung-kyu, second baseman Ryu Ji-hyeok, shortstop Lee Jae-hyun, right fielder Kim Hyun-joon, and catcher Lee Byung-heon. Foreign pitcher Connor Seabold will start on the mound.
Manager Park Jin-man commented on Byung-ho Park’s current status, saying, “He will pinch-hit today as well. He will take a day off tomorrow and check his condition on Tuesday. I think he will be better.”
Lee said, “I think Kim Kwang-hyun will pitch well today. We won a hard-fought victory on Tuesday (30th), which will give us confidence.” He added, “We have a chance to turn the tide today. If we win today, we will have a +1 win-loss margin.”
SSG took the early lead.
In the first inning, Choo Shin-soo singled and Heredia was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Han Yoo-seom and Lee Ji-young followed with back-to-back singles to score the first two runs.
Samsung responded in the bottom of the inning, putting two runners on base with singles by Kim Ji-chan and Koo Ja-uk. Kim Young-woong singled to right to bring home Kim Ji-chan from second base. Lee Sung-gyu struck out swinging, but Ryu Ji-hyeok followed with a single to left to tie the game at 2-2.

In the third inning, Lee Byung-heon grounded out to third base, allowing Ryu Ji-hyeok to score from third base. Two batters later in the fourth, Lee Sung-kyu and Ryu Ji-hyeok singled and Lee Jae-hyun singled to left to score one more run.
SSG added another run in the top of the fifth inning when Choo Shin-soo led off with a solo arch to right center. Samsung increased its lead to 7-3 in the sixth inning when Lee Jae-hyun hit a two-run arch to left. In the seventh inning, with the bases loaded and two outs, Koo Ja-rook hit a two-run double. 8-3.
Samsung starter Connor earned the win with six innings, seven hits (one homer), three walks and three strikeouts. Lee Jae-hyun had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs, while Kim Young-woong had one hit and two RBIs.
SSG starter Kim Kwang-hyun, on the other hand, was tagged for four runs on eight hits and eight walks with four strikeouts in three innings. It was his eighth loss of the season.
